Lantr ("we," "us," or "our") operates the Lantr application and related services (the "Service"). This Privacy Policy explains how we handle your information.

1. Your Presentations Stay Private

Your presentations (.ltrn files) are created and stored locally on your device. We do not upload, collect, or store your presentation files on our servers.

When you use The Director (our AI assistant), only the specific content needed for that interaction is sent to our AI infrastructure for processing. This data is not stored after the request is completed.

2. Information We Collect

Information You Provide

Account Information: Your email address, used for authentication and communication.

Information Collected Automatically

Device Information: Device type, operating system, and app version.
Authentication Data: Session tokens (JWTs) used to keep you signed in.
Basic Analytics: App usage patterns such as feature usage frequency and session duration, used to improve the Service.

3. How We Use Your Information

Authenticate your account via email one-time passcode (OTP).
Process AI requests through The Director when you choose to use it.
Improve the Service based on aggregated, anonymized usage patterns.
Communicate with you about the Service, including updates and changes.

4. AI Processing

When you use The Director, the content you interact with is processed by AI models hosted on Microsoft Azure AI Foundry. This processing happens in real-time to provide narrative structuring and editing assistance.

We do not use your content to train AI models. The AI is designed to structure your existing ideas, not to generate or invent content on your behalf.

5. Data Sharing

We do not sell your personal information. We share data only with:

Microsoft Azure AI Foundry: To process AI requests when you use The Director. Subject to Microsoft's data processing terms.
Service Providers: Infrastructure and email delivery providers necessary to operate the Service.
Legal Requirements: If required by law, regulation, or legal process.

6. Data Security

We use industry-standard security measures including encrypted connections (TLS) and secure authentication (email OTP with JWT sessions). While we take reasonable steps to protect your data, no method of electronic storage is 100% secure.

7. Data Retention

Your account data is retained as long as your account is active.
If you delete your account, we will delete your personal data within 30 days, except where retention is required by law.
AI interaction data is not persisted beyond the duration of the request.

8. Your Rights

You have the right to:

Access your personal data by contacting us.
Delete your account and associated data.
Withdraw from the alpha program at any time.

If you are in the European Economic Area (EEA), you also have rights under the GDPR including the right to data portability, the right to restrict processing, and the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority.

9. Children's Privacy

Lantr is not intended for children under the age of 16. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 16.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes via email or an in-app notification. Continued use of the Service after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
